Elizabeth Cepeda was born in the town of Moca in the Dominican Republic. She was raised in Santo Domingo and moved to the United States when she was 15 years old. Elizabeth is a University of Delaware graduate. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Apparel Design in May 2007. Eli, as her friends call her, is also a avid photographer, she has been trained at the University of Delaware, as well as at Altos De Chavon in the Dominican Republic.
She is the former director of the Miss Hispanic Delaware pageant, where she served from 2001 to 2009. During her involvement time in the pageant, she helped raised thousands of dollars for scholarships and community affairs. At the same time, she was an active board member of the Hispanic Festival and the Puerto Rican parade of Wilmington, DE and worked as an office manager and special event coordinator for Montesino Technologies. In 2007 she created Cache’ Productions, specializing in corporate and fashion events. She also teaches young children about etiquette, grace, modeling and manners. As a teenager she hosted the TV show “Youth Vibe” on WHYY channel 12 in DE, NJ & PA, a program that showcased young people who were making a difference in their community.
She served as the LACC Miss Development Corporation Queen, was a dancer for Raices, a Latin American Theatrical Production, and dance Teacher at the Latin American Community Center. She has received numerous awards for her involvement in her community, including Nuestras Raices Delaware 2004 member of the year award. 2007 Communications awards from radio uno. And in 2008 LACC volunteer of the year award. But her biggest accomplishment in life is being the mother of her son Javier Alexander Valverde, who was born in July of 2010.
Elizabeth's most resent venture is preparing to Direct and hold for the first time the Miss Delaware Latina Pageant in March 2012. This is the Official State Preliminary Pageant for the National Miss Latina US to the International Miss Latin America of the World Pageants.
